Although it took a little longer than we hoped, we’ve reached & exceeded the 5,000 like milestone for UpsideDownText.com! BubbleBallText.com still has some ways to go to reach 100 likes… but it’s getting there. Thanks for your continued support of our websites! We’re glad you like them.
Note: To see the current tally of Facebook likes, go to either UpsideDownText.com or BubbleBallText.com and look at the number by the thumb icon at the top-right.
We’ve almost hit a milestone… no, make that two milestones. UpsideDownText.com now has 4,800 Facebook likes, while BubbleBallText.com has 77. Of course, it’s impossible to compare the two on the same level – the Upside Down Text project began months before Bubble Ball Text, and we’ve put countless more time and effort (not to mention money) into promoting Upside Down Text. And so while 5,000 likes would be a milestone for UpsideDownText, 100 likes would be an equally signifiant milestone for BubbleBallText.
In any case, let the push begin! Let’s see how long it takes UpsideDownText to reach 5,000, and how long it takes BubbleBallText to reach 100… we’re hoping a day, or maybe two.
When you’re learning calculus, rocket science or AP physics it’s a good idea to focus. But occasionally “focus” can be a bad thing.
Recently, we launched the Upside Down Text Widget which allows blog/website owners to embed an upside down text converter within their own website. After including the widget on this blog, we soon noticed a problem. Our widget automatically focused the browser on the upper textbox (where you enter the text you want flipped). (see diagram below)
This works well on webpages where the only focal point is the widget but on a blog for example, it can cause an undesired behavior – certain browsers automatically scroll down to the post where the widget is embedded.
Here’s an example to make the problem more clear. Let’s say there’s a blogger named Jeff. As is typical, the posts on Jeff’s blog are ordered chronologically with the most recent at the top. Jeff includes our upside down widget in one of his blog posts. Then the next day, he publishes another post about the new sushi joint down the street. When Sophia, Jeff’s friend, visits Jeff’s Blog she expects to see his post about the sushi restaurant first, since that was Jeff’s most recent entry. But our widget instructs the browser to focus on it’s upper textbox, so when Sophia visits Jeff’s blog, her browser automatically scrolls down to less recent post with the upside down text widget. This is certainly not what Jeff wants.
When this issue came to our attention we promptly removed the auto-focus from our widget. So no worries bloggers – you can safely include our widget on your site. And if you’ve already included the widget there is no need to update the inclusion code. Updates like this are automatically applied.
To our early widget adopters who might have encountered this problem: We sincerely apologize for this issue and thank you for your patience and continued support.
In honor of the World Cup (#worldcup) and the countless tweets about the event, Twitter released a set of flags that appear alongside certain hashtags. If you’re a frequent Twitter user, you’ve probably noticed these flags in tweets.
Uruguay (#uru) lost to Germany (#ger) today, 2 to 3. And tomorrow Netherlands (#ned) plays Spain (#esp) in the finals. Soon the World Cup will be over, and it’s unclear what’s gonna happen to these wonderful Twitter flags. So hash away, right now, before it’s too late. Here is a list of countries, their Twitter flags, and the hashtag to type. If you type the hashtag just as it’s listed below, the corresponding flag will appear in your tweet (ex/ type #usa to get the United States flag). Enjoy!

We know what you’re thinking – “World Cup” is not a country. True, but it is, after all, sorta relevant. Plus, it comes with that sexy soccer ball.
The folks over at WidgetBox have approved our Upside Down Widget!! That’s right – our newly developed, magnifiant (100x times better than FlipMyText) widget is now on WidgetBox. And we have to say – WidgetBox was extremely prompt. We sent our widget for approval on June 25th, and then 3 days later (on the 28th) it was approved! Bravo guys.
This marvel packs all the goodness of Upside Down Text into a cute, simple, widget, perfect for any site. And it’s made by the #1 Upside Down Text service – UpsideDownText.com. So try it out! And did we tell you… it’s free! So you can use your hard-earned money for other things like sushi, cheesecake, and Doritos. Here’s a peak:
Pyramid Schemes ain’t always bad. Even if you’ve used UpsideDownText.com, you’ve probably never tried the Upside Down Pyramid Maker. No worries. Most people haven’t. Basically, you enter a word and you get a pyramid composed of a combination of varied lengths of normal text and upside down text. So here’s an example. I’ve entered the word “pyramid”, and voila:
p
py
pyr
pyra
pyram
pyrami
pyramid
dʎɹɐɯıp
dʎɹɐɯı
dʎɹɐɯ
dʎɹɐ
dʎɹ
dʎ
d
Pretty cool eh? We actually got the idea from a comment we saw on another website, where the visitor had made a pyramid with different lengths of upside down text, just like ours. In any case this announcement isn’t about the pyramids per se. It’s about a new short-URL!! That’s right. Now you can access your favorite pyramid maker by going to http://udpyr.us This link takes you directly to the pyramid page… Oh, and you can share it on Twitter. It’s shorter than a bit.ly.
Text is rich yet priceless.
Text is sophisticated yet funny.
Text is from the heart with compassion.
But best of all,
text is yours.
But creating the right effect,
now that’s us,
to you.
Just like you, we’re constantly learning, improving and forgetting over the summer (just kidding). Today we’re happy to announce some new additions to our one and only, UpsideDownText.com. Here’s a list of the new goodies (yum yum):
Better Facebook Integration: You can now send Upside Down Text direct to your Facebook status, a la the Facebook icon. No more need for copying & pasting when you need a funky status.
Better Twitter Integration: Not surprisingly, the Twitter Icon, provides direct integration with Twitter. Just click and tweet. Easy as ɐ q ɔ.
Character Count: Need to stay < 140 (lbs)? Well no worries! Our character count (in grey; above the textbox) now informs you of how many characters you’ve typed. It’s like an automatic carb counter, except for chars.
